Now, if you set PIA up properly to prevent data leaks and take the above steps but you still get an infringing notice, then that means we're all screwed.I have set up my torrent client (qbittorrent) to only use the VPN network interface.) Look into netmon or something similar, and set your client to bind to the ip. My only complaint is that the difference in 'colour' (grey) between on and off is too small.I wasn't happy with just connecting through the vpn, because if that connection goes down and you revert to your public IP address without taking precautions, you're exposed. I did have a lot of problems using it when i first started (NEWB), but now it's flying. If you're paying for a VPN service, you clearly have an interest in your privacy. The OSX client can be launch manually or when the OS starts ... I have also used Viscosity with PIA, but have gone back to using the PIA client. While I can set up PIA via the (Windows) client on a PC, I really want to set up the VPN connection for my LAN.I don't see how utorrent could know your real address nor anyone connected to you via torrent. I run that on a seperate subnet and use it's built in Open VPN client to handle the connection.Maybe gelocation could still give you away as services know what wireless mac address's are near you, so your IP is foreign, but you are in the range of hotspots that are ofcourse within a hundred metres of where you really live Can you set up a VPN connection on a Fritzbox without using their own propriety system? SK Okay, well odds are, assuming the AVM Fritz Box works the same as mine, you can't set up a PIA connection on the box itself.Since my connection is only 5.5Mbit I was hoping that there wouldn't be much slow down.Have to say i'm getting full speed in any downloads I do.
In a response to my email about the issue, PIA claimed all data is immediately 'nuked'.
You'll either need to just stick with the software method, or look at using some additional hardware and running something like dd-wrt or pfsense.
SK I'm considering paying for PIA and setting up a dedicated NUC running transmission on it (have it on my NAS and and very happy with it).
So I also grabbed a Netflix account to see how well it works.
So far it buffered once so I'm very happy with PIA.
just need to find a way to test it, once i have it set up... Can this be done with any vpn via software or it has to be done via the vpn's software?
